On Friday 22 June 2018, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that 80% of 3-year-olds at preschool will miss out on the childcare subsidies announced in the NSW budget. The Early Learning and Care Council of Australia’s CEO Elizabeth Death provided commentary, stating: “It’s a model that works for families who have one parent who is a stay-at-home parent”. However, for parents whose work means they require longer childcare hours, “they get nothing”.
