Why did you decide to become an early childhood educator?

Learning didn’t come easily for me, although I tried my best and had lots of support. I wanted to help others who might have been in that situation. I decided to become an early childhood educator as I was passionate about working with young children and educating them about the basic and foundational academic, social, cognitive and emotional concepts.

What sort of qualifications do you have, and how did you get them?
I completed my Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care as a school-based apprenticeship, where I learnt on the job one day a week. I completed my Diploma full-time whilst working part-time. I continued on to study my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education full-time whilst working full-time.

What is the most valuable thing you’ve learned from the children you work with?
I have learned so many valuable and memorable things from children in my short career in early childhood. Children are curious, energetic, enthusiastic and positive. Kindergarten is a time for children to be carefree, where they can make mistakes and learn from them. I value the genuine conversations I have with the children I work with that make my day positive and happy.
